At the bottom and the most affordable of the Stage 2 line is the RBZ 40 Composite Stick by CCM. The RBZ 40 offers durability which is great for recreational and entry-level players. The design is one of the biggest changes to the Stage 2 line. A dark upper half of the stick contrasts with the white bottom half, and a black strip finds itself on the top of the blade and lower portion of the shaft. The reason for the altered color scheme was well thought out by the design team at CCM---leaving the lower half white makes the stick difficult for a goalie to distinguish from the white ice and boards, while adding black on the top of the lower shaft and blade makes the stick more visible in your peripherals while stick-handling. CCM's RBZ 280 Composite Stick offers most of their elite features found in the flagship Speedburner, while coming in at a more affordable price point. Their partnership with Taylor Made is once again the driving factor behind the RBZ's performance, with a redesigned hosel technology taking center stage this year. Their "Power Hosel Technology" is a redesign of the lower portion of the RBZ shaft, adding an internal rib and building it to be inserted into the blade. By inserting the shaft into the blade hosel, the energy transfer of the stick becomes much more efficient. This means that when you flex the shaft while shooting, energy travels through the stick and to the puck quicker with less energy lost. The result is a more powerful shot with a faster release in comparison to previous RBZ models.
