The Nexus lineup from Bauer is all about allowing you to set your sights and hit your target every time. As Bauer’s TRU mid-kick flex profile this Nexus model has become one of the most sought after sticks amongst NHL players. The Nexus family features Sweet Spot Technology, an enlarged mid kick zone that Bauer has re-engineered to allow for more efficient loading and energy transfer in your shot. The stick reacts to the position of your bottom hand to help you hit your target on a more consistent basis. Unlike the Nexus 1N, a true one-piece stick, the Nexus N9000 uses a more traditional fused construction. The CCM Ribcor 49K was designed for elite players looking for performance at a fraction of the cost. Ribcor has always been about generating efficient loading to achieve a quick releasing shot in a low-kick package and the 49K does just that with PopMatrix Technology while still providing excellent control and accuracy from the Ascent Blade. The 49K features PopMatrix technology, a nice carry over technology seen in the Ribcor Trigger as well as last year’s Reckoner. PopMatrix is a unique visual technology that consists of carbon fibers which are permanently in tension due to the unique concave geometry through the taper of the shaft. The idea of this is to get easy loading, more efficient energy transfer and a faster snap back as quickly as possible. CCM has been able to come up with quantifiable measurements to show that the 49K has the highest release rate from a CCM stick at its price point. The performance fibers that are found in the rib are also protected by an outer layer composed of protective fibers to put durability issues to rest. This all translates into less effort required to load the fibers of the shaft, which results in a load, release, and feel unlike any other on the market. As far a construction goes, the 49K is composed with a fuse construction made with a high quality carbon fiber throughout the entirety of the stick. The orientation of the fibers creates the 3:1 High Power Taper Ratio, which means that it has a stiffer top and bottom in relation to the front and back of the shaft. This results in less twisting on shots and more direct power transfer. Moving down to the blade, the 49K comes equipped with Ascent Blade. As CCM’s dangler stick, they really wanted to promote that great feel any puck handler would desire, so to achieve this the Ascent Blade is composed of a premium foam that provides an incredibly soft feel. And although it’s meant to provide great feel, the fact that the blade increases in stiffness from heel to toe provides hard, accurate and quick releasing shots off the toe. The Vapor family of skates continues to be the most popular family within Bauer's 3-fit platform. Although still considered a Vapor skate, the X200 goes a little outside of the typical “Vapor” fit. Instead of the standard V-fit profile (standard width through toebox, narrower fit in the heel and ankle) we are used to seeing on the Vapor line, the 200 is less snug and closer to a classic style fit. The Tacks 6092 skate offers up a huge value at its price point. Although this is not the absolute top of the line model, many of those top tiered features trickle down to the 6092 to provide a comfortable and high performing skate for elite skaters. More importantly, CCM altered the fitting characteristics of this Tacks line to be more anatomical right out of the box. Getting right into the boot construction, CCM used a high end, textured, and layer-formed boot frame that has that metallic mesh look. It has strategic reinforcements used to promote elite level support with effortless energy transfer, combine all this with the Tacks AttackFrame composite core and you get a boot that is lightweight, rigid, and thermo-formable to give an anatomical and customized fit all around the skate. This fit profile provides a close fit in the heel and ankle with a medium width throughout the boot. Like the Super Tacks, the 6092 features CCM’s premier skate lining, TotalDri Liner. This is a lightweight liner that wicks away moisture very quickly and works well with the vented exhaust system placed on the outsole of the skate. These features work together to push any moisture out of the boot, keeping the skate even more lightweight and comfortable. On the inside, symmetrical multi-density memory foam pads wrap around the players foot to further enhance the customized fit and overall comfort. Another nice little feature are the smooth contour comfort pads found along the neck/collar of the skate to alleviate any pressure put on the ankles during turning. Moving to the tongue, CCM used a 7mm traditional felt tongue equipped with reinforcement layers to increase comfort around the front of the ankle as well as providing excellent protection with an injected lace-bite protector. Lastly, we see the SpeedBlade 4.0 Holder which provides an additional four millimeters of height (when compared to the older E-Pro holder) mounted to the 6092.
