True’s next generation of X-Series hockey sticks comes in the 2017 ACF line. Think you know Reactor sticks? Think again. For 2015, the entire Reactor line of sticks has been revamped to offer goalies with even more options while choosing their companion of choice. The composite construction of the previous Reactor line has been replaced with a more traditional and reliable foam core construction that goalies of all skill levels will love. The paddle of the Reactor 9000 is constructed of a high density urethane core combined with 10 carbon strips running the length of the paddle to add stiffness and reduce breakage. This layup is manufactured in a traditional, symmetrical paddle geometry for goalies who prefer a classic feel and performance. It wouldn’t be a Bauer stick without the latest and greatest technology. In the 9000, the designers have included a Carbon Triaxial Braid carbon weave to reinforce the blade, again adding stiffness and reducing breakage in the high impact areas. An additional reinforced shooter strip along the length of the blade prevents blade flex, allowing for more consistent deflections and puck handling. The shaft is constructed of an aspen core, reinforced with carbons strips for both reinforcement and improving shaft stiffness. The Nexus lineup from Bauer is all about allowing you to set your sights and hit your target every time. As Bauer’s TRU mid-kick flex profile this Nexus model has become one of the most sought after sticks amongst NHL players. The Nexus family features Sweet Spot Technology, an enlarged mid kick zone that Bauer has re-engineered to allow for more efficient loading and energy transfer in your shot. The stick reacts to the position of your bottom hand to help you hit your target on a more consistent basis. Unlike the Nexus 1N, a true one-piece stick, the Nexus N9000 uses a more traditional fused construction. The blade of the Nexus N9000 stick features the Aero Sense Core 2. This is a lightweight combination of dual density Aero Foam 3 core and an evolved SENSE layer that work together to dampen vibration and improve durability. The blade wrap features the same 12K carbon fiber that is used in the shaft and is finished with a light texture to the outer coating. The CCM Ribcor 49K was designed for elite players looking for performance at a fraction of the cost. Ribcor has always been about generating efficient loading to achieve a quick releasing shot in a low-kick package and the 49K does just that with PopMatrix Technology while still providing excellent control and accuracy from the Ascent Blade. The 49K features PopMatrix technology, a nice carry over technology seen in the Ribcor Trigger as well as last year’s Reckoner. PopMatrix is a unique visual technology that consists of carbon fibers which are permanently in tension due to the unique concave geometry through the taper of the shaft. The idea of this is to get easy loading, more efficient energy transfer and a faster snap back as quickly as possible. CCM has been able to come up with quantifiable measurements to show that the 49K has the highest release rate from a CCM stick at its price point. The performance fibers that are found in the rib are also protected by an outer layer composed of protective fibers to put durability issues to rest. This all translates into less effort required to load the fibers of the shaft, which results in a load, release, and feel unlike any other on the market. As far a construction goes, the 49K is composed with a fuse construction made with a high quality carbon fiber throughout the entirety of the stick. The orientation of the fibers creates the 3:1 High Power Taper Ratio, which means that it has a stiffer top and bottom in relation to the front and back of the shaft. This results in less twisting on shots and more direct power transfer. Moving down to the blade, the 49K comes equipped with Ascent Blade. As CCM’s dangler stick, they really wanted to promote that great feel any puck handler would desire, so to achieve this the Ascent Blade is composed of a premium foam that provides an incredibly soft feel. And although it’s meant to provide great feel, the fact that the blade increases in stiffness from heel to toe provides hard, accurate and quick releasing shots off the toe.
