The CCM Jetspeed FT380 ice hockey skate offers some elite-level features at a performance-level price point. The skate’s interior and overall boot construction are significantly upgraded for class-leading performance. This model is 4mm taller than in years past, allowing for a still more aggressive turn radius. CCM uses its geometric SpeedRib design in the SpeedBlade 4.0 holder, which exploits the power of triangles for a stiffer, more stable performance. This means players experience less torquing and more power transferred through each stride. The SpeedBlade holder includes SpeedBlade stainless steel runners for excellent bite and durability. The FT370 outsole is a reinforced, injected, and vented model. This outsole is stiffer than outsoles at lower price points, for better energy transfer. The vent allows moisture to escape the boot, so it stays drier during the game and dries quickly afterwards. The quarter package on the Jetspeed 380 is CCM’s RocketFrame Composite model—the same as in last year’s top-of-the-line Jetspeed. This year, the boot features the SpeedCore II for elite-level stiffness—a very nice feature for a performance-level skate. CCM cores bake well and will give any shaped foot a customized fit and feel. The boot also features Smooth Contour Pro ankle wraps to alleviate high-ankle abrasions. The FT380 tongue is upgraded over the 370 tongue with thicker foam. The tongue includes additional thick foams down the center for a pro-styled feel. The embossed guard helps alleviate lace bite and protects the top of the foot from pucks and slashes. The FT380 interior has been upgraded with CCM’s premier Total-Dri liner to wick away unvented moisture, and offers superior abrasion protection. The liner’s DuraZone abrasion patches at the top of the boot help extend the liner’s life by reducing the wear that typically results from shin guards positioned beneath the tongue. Smooth Contour collar pads also help reduce high-ankle abrasions, and multi-density memory foam ankle pads comfortably lock the skater’s foot into the boot for better control. The FT380 features CCM’s Anatomical Response footbed with a thin layer of foam but an ample contact area between the foot and the skate. The fit profile of the FT380 is medium volume, like all Jetspeed skates. It has a slightly narrow forefoot and heel thanks to CCM’s well-known heel lock and a more tapered toe. While the instep is a standard medium volume, the overall fit is a little more snug, just right for players with in-between-sized feet. The Bauer Nexus N7000 hockey pant is the base model in the latest Nexus pant line that features a classic construction to offer a wide, volume fit. This pant was designed to promote mobility and maximum coverage and protection at a fraction of the cost. Starting with the thigh guard, a 2-piece ergonomic PE plastic guard is used and has been made to comfortably wrap around the thighs. Moving on up to the hip, Bauer kept it simple with an effective molded dome construction PE cap that offers great protection. Coming off the successful RBZ line, the QuickLite is the pro model in the latest shoulder pad line from CCM, bringing with it exciting new technology in the same low profile package it’s become famous for. These shoulder pads are all about mobility which is of course promoted by the incredibly lightweight foams used and construction design of the pad itself. The construction of the QLT comes from DryFoam Technology which is a closed cell foam that absorbs less sweat to allow the shoulder pads to remain lightweight and comfortable throughout the game. The combination of VentShield and the premier Zotefoam base are the key components in making these pads not only very protective but also contributes to the pads lightweight. VentShield is the hard perforated plastic found protecting vital organs, while the premier Zotefoam composes the rest of the front and back jackets. The shoulder caps feature a low profile design made with Ufoam construction (EPP/EVA coverage). This keeps the pad light all while offering up pro level protection. Brand new for 2018, CCM has overhauled their flagship Premier line and brought out the CCM Premier P2.5 Senior Goalie Glove. Building off of the already successful Premier line, the Premier II has new specs and pieces of technology sure to turn heads. The Premier P2.5 Senior glove has continued the perfect lineage along the CCM Premier yet has the new key features to give goalies extra protection and visibility into the pocket. Starting with the closure of the glove, CCM has kept the same break angle from the old Koho 590, the 60 degree break. This break allows for a natural hand closure while giving the goalie a good catching glove and a good blocking the glove. The One-Piece cuff will give the goalie a larger blocking surface for when they engage in a blocking butterfly, yet the palm will show a large physical shape to the shooter and allow for a natural catch. In the pocket of the glove, CCM has taken the massive success from the EF3 glove and added the Double Straight T as a stock option on the Premier P2.5. This pocket allows the goalie to completely see into the pocket and still yield for a soft catch. At the base of the spine of the T, there is a U shaped design which keeps for a clean attachment point and also promotes an easy break in and game ready feel right out of the box. On the Spines of the glove, they are also stiffened up a bit to help give a better shape and depth to the pocket which will give the goalie the maximum depth allowed to help cradle pucks. Internally, there is a new Velcro setup across the fingers to give a better fit on the inside of the glove. While the rest of the strapping setup will look familiar, this new strap across the back of the hand will create a better overall fit to keep the hand in the glove and give the best closure. Finishing off back of the glove, there is a large padded finger rail which runs along the fingertips which gives extra protection for not only covering pucks, but in the RVH blocking selection as well. This extra rail is a large piece of LD foam which gives that goalie the extra protection they need.
