New for the 2018 season is the CCM JetSpeed Grip Senior Hockey Stick! This stick looks to bridge the gap between having a deadly quick shot release while maintaining maximum shot speed, giving you the ability to score from anywhere in the offensive zone! One of the new key features of the JetSpeed stick is the shaft geometry. This stick still features the classic rounded corners and double concave sidewalls, but for this iteration, CCM incorporated double convex sidewalls at the top and bottom of the shaft. This updated design fits better in your hand, which in turn, leads to superior control of the puck. Moving to the construction itself, the CCM JetSpeed Stick features Sigmatex carbon fiber. Thanks to the high-tension weaving process of this material, not only is it lightweight, but very durable as well. Another new feature of the CCM JetSpeed Stick is CCM’s new hybrid kick-point. Right below the bottom hand, the stick has a soft flex point, immediately followed up by a stiffer “bump” flex point. This is followed by another soft flex point at the bottom third of the shaft. This stiffness “bump” between the two softer flex points creates a hinge-like effect creating greater power and control on your shots. The softer flex points help you to get your shots off your stick faster! Moving to the blade of the stick, this is another new feature that CCM has incorporated into their JetSpeed stick. They went with their patented Jetstream blade. This blade features multiple interior channels that provide precision and consistency. The next generation of the legendary Tacks name is here and better than ever, and with it comes a beefed up line of CCM’s most durable sticks to date. With RBZ offering a custom kick and Ribcor offering a quick release low kick, CCM caters to the snipers with a mid-kick point in the Ultra Tacks. The Ultra Tacks was designed to provide unmatched accuracy and precision in a high performance lightweight and durable stick. CCM found success with Attackframe technology, which was featured in the original Tacks stick, only to one up it with a much lighter version of the same tech now dubbed Ultra Attackframe. Engineers designed their blade to have a structure with a strong outer frame and two stiffer bridges that run heel to toe. The stiff reinforcements that run across the blade help to increase bending stiffness and torsional rigidity which prevents any twisting of the blade and keeps you square to your target while delivering consistent and accurate shots. By reducing the weight of the blade you get a better overall balanced feel which in turn promotes a higher performing stick and more accurate shots. Another benefit of having this stiffer blade is the durability factor as well as reliability. With the Ultra Attackframe technology, pro testimonials state that their Tacks stick is lasting longer while providing that same feel they had the first day they received their stick, giving them the consistency needed to perform. The majority of hockey sticks break when you receive a slash which then damages a corner of the shaft. Now apply more force onto that damaged area while you shoot or stick check and SNAP! What happened is when force was applied, the layers of carbon fiber started to separate and weaken the stick to the point of breakage. Bumper technology is the addition of more material to the inside of the shaft corners which prevents the separation and breakdown of the carbon fiber layers in the stick. The result is better carbon fiber compaction for remarkable durability and consistency in the shaft. This shaft uses a traditional geometry with square-corners and strategically placed tactile texture is utilized with a grip finish. There is a very slight gradual taper because of the mid kick flex profile to a nice transition where the blade and the shaft meet. On the inside of the matte finished blade, is the Ultra Attackframe tech mentioned above with a lightweight quality foam core between the frame and bridges. Over the past two years, the Tacks line has been proving itself due to its consistent performance. The CCM Ribcor Trigger ASY is the top of the line model of the new Ribcor stick line for 2016. Ribcor has always been about generating efficient loading to achieve a quick releasing shot in a low-kick package. With familiar technologies in Pop Matrix and Technora, CCM changed it up and added new features to optimize performance throughout the entire stick. No doubt the biggest change coming in this stick is going to be the new ASY-1 flex profile. This is not to be confused with the flex point, which thanks to PopMatrix technology is a low kick point. The Trigger features a completely new layup that was developed to maximize the performance of every single fiber in the stick by strategically layering and angling the fibers in certain areas of the stick. This allows for an even quicker release all designed and tested from NHL player feedback and the CCM performance lab. This new layup also accentuates the PopMatrix technology giving shooter’s the ability to get their shots off as quickly as possible. The Trigger features PopMatrix technology which was last seen in the Reckoner. PopMatrix is a unique visual technology that consists of carbon fibers which are permanently in tension due to the unique concave geometry through the taper of the shaft. The idea of this is to get easy loading, more efficient energy transfer and a faster snap back as quickly as possible. CCM has been able to come up with quantifiable measurements to show that the Trigger has the highest release rate from a CCM stick to date. The performance fibers that are found in the rib are also protected by an outer layer composed of protective fibers to put durability issues to rest. This all translates into less effort required to load the fibers of the shaft, which results in a load, release, and feel unlike any other on the market. As the Ribcor line has become linked to Technora Technology, it’s to no surprise that the CCM Trigger will be featuring the Aramid Fiber reinforcements running through the lower third of the stick. Technora is a patented, synthetic fiber similar to Kevlar that boasts a high tensile strength and better bending properties, which is why it has been trusted and used in the automotive and aerospace industries for years. The same material used in parachutes, body armor, and jet engines now reinforces an area of high wear and tear, the slash zone. This is beneficial in helping to take this stick to high levels of durability and ensuring the longevity of the pop life game in and game out for an overall better performing stick. Moving down to the blade, the Trigger comes equipped with the new Ascent 2 blade. The Ascent 2 is rooted from its predecessor the Ascent, found in the Reckoner, but comes with a few changes in this Trigger model. As CCM’s dangler stick, they really wanted to promote that great feel any puck handler would desire, so to achieve this CCM raised the one internal support bridge a bit higher to allow the puck to make more contact with the premium foam in the blade. While the feel of this blade will be softer to provide those soft hands, the toe is still stiff to provide accurate and quick releasing shots off the toe.
