Brand new for 2018, CCM has overhauled their flagship Premier line and brought out the CCM Premier P2.5 Senior Goalie Blocker. Building off of the already successful Premier line, the Premier P2.5 has new specs and pieces of technology sure to turn heads. Continuing on the success of all Premier style blockers, CCM did not sacrifice their style and protection yet added new specs which create a different function. The first noticeable change is within the backhand wrist opening, now called the One Piece Cuff. The One Piece Cuff spec is a larger piece of foam that wraps entirely around the wrist and fills any negative space between the wrist and back of the blocker board. Goalies will notice this extra piece against their wrist, but it will not hinder mobility. Next, CCM has utilized a design which is friendly to the younger goaltender. The Premier P2.5 sidewall and index finger area is slightly oversized to still give the goalie the protection they are looking for without prohibiting the goaltender holding their stick. Another change was done to the sidewall of the blocker. Now, CCM is offering a true bindingless blocker not only on the face of the blocker but on the sidewall too. This provides the goalie with a very clean look, but it also improves the durability by removing the binding that used to stick out and get worn on the side of the stick. The board itself is made of thick foam with centered hand protection which gives the goalie a natural feel and balance on the wrist. This board is very thick and helps launch pucks into the corner when angled properly. Finishing off the blocker is CCM’s suregrip material which has a slight tack to it, ultimately helping the goalie with the best grip on their stick throughout a session. Last but not least, continuing on the weight reductions in the pads, CCM has reengineered the weight distribution and blocker foams to give a lighter feel on the goalies hand. This 24% weight reduction will allow for goalies to make even quicker blocker saves and easier stickhandling efforts. Building off of the already successful Premier line, the Premier II has new specs and pieces of technology sure to turn heads. The Premier P2.5 Senior glove has continued the perfect lineage along the CCM Premier yet has the new key features to give goalies extra protection and visibility into the pocket. Starting with the closure of the glove, CCM has kept the same break angle from the old Koho 590, the 60 degree break. This break allows for a natural hand closure while giving the goalie a good catching glove and a good blocking the glove. The One-Piece cuff will give the goalie a larger blocking surface for when they engage in a blocking butterfly, yet the palm will show a large physical shape to the shooter and allow for a natural catch. In the pocket of the glove, CCM has taken the massive success from the EF3 glove and added the Double Straight T as a stock option on the Premier P2.5. This pocket allows the goalie to completely see into the pocket and still yield for a soft catch. At the base of the spine of the T, there is a U shaped design which keeps for a clean attachment point and also promotes an easy break in and game ready feel right out of the box. On the Spines of the glove, they are also stiffened up a bit to help give a better shape and depth to the pocket which will give the goalie the maximum depth allowed to help cradle pucks. Internally, there is a new Velcro setup across the fingers to give a better fit on the inside of the glove. While the rest of the strapping setup will look familiar, this new strap across the back of the hand will create a better overall fit to keep the hand in the glove and give the best closure. Finishing off back of the glove, there is a large padded finger rail which runs along the fingertips which gives extra protection for not only covering pucks, but in the RVH blocking selection as well. This extra rail is a large piece of LD foam which gives that goalie the extra protection they need. Continuing on one of the most anticipated new lines in goaltending in the recent years, Bauer has brought one of the most engineered and technologically advanced lines of gear to the goalie market. The Vapor X700 skate is packed with new features which strive to change the face of goaltending. With the success of the “cowlingless” goalie skate, the Vapor X700 skate is designed to increase the attack angle of goalies moving while in the butterfly position as well as recoveries and movements around the crease. The outer cowling has been removed and a “traditional” looking player holder has been added to the boot. The boot and the toe cap have been stiffened and reinforced to protect against any shots on the toe. Included in the new Vertexx Edge Holder is the 3mm LS1G steel specifically designed for the anatomical position the goalie will be in. This steel is removed via the Edge Trigger system found under the heel and gives goalie the opportunity to change their steel on the fly. The Vapor X700 boot has more volume in the width and ankle, when compared to the Supreme counterpart. This means that the eyelets are moved forward so there can be more wrap and tightness in the ankle area. The boot has a fully symmetrical design where the inside and outside edge of the boot is the same height to give the goalie more support running up the inside and outside of the leg. The Bauer Vapor 1X Goalie Knee Guards are not only lighter than ever before but they are also more protective and comfortable too. The Extreme Flex Shield Pants features a brand new style and visual look to their already popular pants. The base of the Extreme Flex Pant is built around bringing the goaltender unrestricted movement while still providing the largest blocking surface allowed. Continuing the trend of extreme mobility, the Extreme Flex Shield Goalie Pant is designed to give the goalie a contoured fit while still giving maximum protection. The pants are redesigned to sit more snug in the waist and throughout the legs. The thigh of the pant is tapered towards the bottom and but still gives a large visual look. The taper on the legs allows the pants to channel into the butterfly position against the pads and will not let the thigh get stuck on the outer edge of the pad. The key upgrade for the S29 goalie pants is the inclusion of PORON® hip floaters. The PORON® foam is designed to help withstand and minimize impacts to keep you protected and comfortable on the ice. The composite construction of the previous Reactor line has been replaced with a more traditional and reliable foam core construction that goalies of all skill levels will love. The paddle of the Reactor 9000 is constructed of a high density urethane core combined with 10 carbon strips running the length of the paddle to add stiffness and reduce breakage. This layup is manufactured in a traditional, symmetrical paddle geometry for goalies who prefer a classic feel and performance. The CCM Tacks 6092 Goalie Ice Hockey Skates have many of the same features found on the highest price point model. They are designed with a stiff construction that has an asymmetrical boot cut to allow a deeper crouch and more explosive movements. The Tacks 6092 goal skates were created with maximum performance in mind. The CCM Premier R1.5 leg pads are designed to produce powerful rebounds that allow the goaltender to reset and move into position for a potential second save, engineered to give the goaltender optimal weight balance when in the butterfly, reverse VH and recovery movements. Reebok P4 Pro Intermediate Goalie Glove features a one-piece, injection molded cuff and thumb that is designed to create a wide, deep glove pocket. The stock model comes in the 590 design, which creates a traditional 60 degree closure, index finger to thumb closure. A custom, 580 design can also be ordered which features a 90 degree break - that provides a full hand closure.
