Brand new for 2018, CCM has overhauled their flagship Premier line and brought out the CCM Premier P2.5 Senior Goalie Blocker. Building off of the already successful Premier line, the Premier P2.5 has new specs and pieces of technology sure to turn heads. Continuing on the success of all Premier style blockers, CCM did not sacrifice their style and protection yet added new specs which create a different function. The first noticeable change is within the backhand wrist opening, now called the One Piece Cuff. The One Piece Cuff spec is a larger piece of foam that wraps entirely around the wrist and fills any negative space between the wrist and back of the blocker board. Goalies will notice this extra piece against their wrist, but it will not hinder mobility. Next, CCM has utilized a design which is friendly to the younger goaltender. The Premier P2.5 sidewall and index finger area is slightly oversized to still give the goalie the protection they are looking for without prohibiting the goaltender holding their stick. Another change was done to the sidewall of the blocker. Now, CCM is offering a true bindingless blocker not only on the face of the blocker but on the sidewall too. This provides the goalie with a very clean look, but it also improves the durability by removing the binding that used to stick out and get worn on the side of the stick. The board itself is made of thick foam with centered hand protection which gives the goalie a natural feel and balance on the wrist. This board is very thick and helps launch pucks into the corner when angled properly. Finishing off the blocker is CCM’s suregrip material which has a slight tack to it, ultimately helping the goalie with the best grip on their stick throughout a session. Last but not least, continuing on the weight reductions in the pads, CCM has reengineered the weight distribution and blocker foams to give a lighter feel on the goalies hand. This 24% weight reduction will allow for goalies to make even quicker blocker saves and easier stickhandling efforts. Brand new for 2017, CCM continues to take the goalie mask category by storm by revamping and improving on their previous designs. The CCM 1.5 Youth Certified Straight Bar goal mask is an NHL inspired shell which includes improvements to increase vision, in the liner and with a lighter shell. The shell of the mask is constructed of a polycarbonate base to provide a protective shell, while staying incredibly light. New for 2017, CCM has re-engineered their Extreme Flex line and has released the brand new Extreme Flex III E3.5 Goalie Blocker. The Extreme Flex III blocker has a brand new style of finger protection aimed to further protect the inside of the hand and give the goalie the confidence they need when gripping their stick. Building on the already classic and popular feel of the EF2 blocker, the EF3 offers the best combination of feel and protection. The EF3 blocker has a thick HD board directly over the back of the hand which allows for pucks to redirect to the corner or glass with force. Continuing on one of the most anticipated new lines in goaltending in the recent years, Bauer has brought one of the most engineered and technologically advanced lines of gear to the goalie market. The Vapor X700 skate is packed with new features which strive to change the face of goaltending. With the success of the “cowlingless” goalie skate, the Vapor X700 skate is designed to increase the attack angle of goalies moving while in the butterfly position as well as recoveries and movements around the crease. The outer cowling has been removed and a “traditional” looking player holder has been added to the boot. The boot and the toe cap have been stiffened and reinforced to protect against any shots on the toe. Included in the new Vertexx Edge Holder is the 3mm LS1G steel specifically designed for the anatomical position the goalie will be in. This steel is removed via the Edge Trigger system found under the heel and gives goalie the opportunity to change their steel on the fly. The Vapor X700 boot has more volume in the width and ankle, when compared to the Supreme counterpart. This means that the eyelets are moved forward so there can be more wrap and tightness in the ankle area. The boot has a fully symmetrical design where the inside and outside edge of the boot is the same height to give the goalie more support running up the inside and outside of the leg. The Bauer Vapor 1X Goalie Knee Guards are not only lighter than ever before but they are also more protective and comfortable too. The bulk of the protection comes from the Curv composite knee cap and the new AeroLite foam reinforcement. AeroLite is one the lightest foams Bauer has to offer but its other unique feature is that it doesn't absorb water like traditional foams. This keeps goalies from carrying around excessive water logged weight and it keeps the body dry all game long too. The new Transfer Mesh and 37.5 Liner play a big role in moisture management as well.
