The Nexus 1N is not the Nexus skate of years past! The fit profile of the 1N got a makeover this year, with the heel, ankle, and forefoot being redesigned to provide a closer fit. Now, the 1N is still Bauer's volume fit, so those of you who love the extra room in the boot don't fret. The changes were made in an effort to improve heel lock and provide a more comprehensive fit profile. They were best feeling Nexus we've skated in for years! In addition to the fit being revamped, the 1N got a ton of love from Bauer this year, seeing the major technological improvements Bauer's made over the last several years consolidated under one skate.
Upper
The 1N sees the return of 3-D lasted Curv composite, which consistently delivers the best weight to strength ratio of any quarter package material. Composite out-soles are much stiffer and offer a higher degree of responsiveness and energy transfer, making your stride more precise and powerful. The 1N also got the injected stability lacing system this year, replacing the conventional eyelets of the past. The injected lace system is more durable than traditional eyelets, performing better over time. It also provides improved foot-wrap and energy return.
Holder and Runners
The return ofTuuk’s Lightspeed Edge Holderwill be a familiar friend for many, but a marked improvement for those who aren’t accustomed to the extra 3mm of height and the improved angle of attack that it offers. Slotted into the Tuuks is Bauer’sLS4 Steel, which will be a welcome improvement at the rink and the pro shop. The upgraded quality of the polished stainless steel and taller profile come together to provide a longer lasting edge life, are less prone to breakage, and offer a further improved angle of attack.
Interior
Perhaps the most improved area of the Skate, the 1N has come remarkably far in the span of a year. The most notable improvement to the guts of the 1N is the inclusion of Bauer’s Speed-plate insole. In the past, insoles haven’t been anything to write home about, but that changed big time when the Speed-plate came into play. The insole is built with recovery alloys which allow it to mold along with the out-sole during the bake and fitting process, providing one of the most customized fits available. In the liner of the skate you will find Bauer’s proprietary moisture management system and 37.5 Fabric technology, where vented gussets in the body of the skate, and 37.5 materials come together to help the 1N dry as fast as possible. The tongue on the 1N is Bauer's Form-Fit Lite 52oz/40oz model with a Curv-composite insert to supplement stiffness and provide a degree of further lace bite protection.
